I had a good friend in college who was a little obsessed with chairs. She loved them. I think she even had a chair necklace. It all seemed a little odd to me at the time. But now, I see that my friend was just an “old soul”, ahead of her college sorority sisters in maturity. She knew what the rest of us didn’t realize until we started decorating our own spaces…chairs are key.
Let’s face it, if you’re entertaining, you need a lot of chairs. If you’re having a few friends stop by for brunch, you’ll need chairs. And if you just want a sweet spot to sit down in for a moment (or to pile things on, in my case) in each room, you need…chairs. I’m a huge fan of mismatched chairs throughout the house, aren’t you? I love it when the chairs are similar in style, but each have their own unique story to tell. One of my very favorite chairs in my house is a tiny little princess slipper chair that I bought at a weekend pop-up market when I lived in Manhattan. I carried that little green velvet cushioned gem with gold wood accents 20 blocks up Columbus Avenue in the rain. And I love it all the more for that memory.
Not to worry, though, you don’t have to go quite to my extremes for a fab chair find – you’ve got Marburger Farm for that! Each year, I am amazed at the selection of chairs we have at our shows and each year, I wish I had space for even more of them! Check out a few of these fab finds from the Spring show. Which one is your favorite?
